Today’s model of ubiquitous data collection takes information from consumers without meaningfully rewarding them. As such, there’s a high level of resentment toward data-centric digital businesses. But in his latest Fast Company op-ed, SURREAL CEO, Josh Rush, asks the burning question: “what if we compensated consumers for their data?” As he illustrates throughout the piece, “Data will become a true commodity. Controllable. Understandable. Something that, like a tanker of oil, can be packaged and traded.”
